EBIN PADIYARA JOY
Mr. Ebin P J joined the Department of Botany at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, Kochi, as Assistant Professor on 14th March 2016. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Botany from 2009 to 2014 at St. Thomas College, Pala, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, securing the First Rank in M.Sc. Botany. He qualified GATE in 2014 with an All India Rank of 141 and cleared the UGC-CSIR NET in Life Sciences in June 2014 with an All India Rank of 43.
His area of expertise is Plant Systematics. He has delivered more than 25 invited talks in workshops, seminars, and conferences on topics related to plant taxonomy and career opportunities in botany. Mr. Ebin has completed five biodiversity assessment studies for the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, one research project for the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department, and one impact assessment study for the Haritha Kerala Mission.
He provides consultancy services in plant identification, medicinal plant surveys, and biodiversity assessments. He also offers internship opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of plant systematics. He serves as an active member of the Technical Support Group of the Kerala State Biodiversity Board and the Biodiversity Management Committee of the Cochin Corporation.
He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Calicut, focusing on the phylogeny of angiosperms. Mr. Ebin has published six journal articles, three conference proceedings, one book chapter, and four popular science articles.
